Laser-photocoagulation (LPC) is a method that uses thermal energy lasers to act therapeutically on damaged retina.
Intervention is short and painless, performed in ambulatory surgery under local anesthetic drops. As preparation for the intervention it is only necessary that the pupil is dilated.
Laser photocoagulation is used in the treatment of retinal vascular disorders (most common with diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusion), and complications in blood vessels in uveitis.
It is also used in treatment of peripheral retinal degeneration in myopia, the treatment of rupture of the retina, the retinal detachment in the vitrectomy, etc.
Patient is able to immediately go home after the intervention and continue with their normal daily activities.
